You bes all run out and pickup your copy of Arthur before they run out. MIA is on the cover, that sweet SriLankin hip hop sensation from the UK who’s making all our asses shake. Also included are Peter Lamborn Wilson aka Hakim Bey, Daniel Pinchbeck, and Erik Davis all staples here at NDS.
You can find it at St Marks Books, Other Music, Tower?, and various other record stores. It’s Free, btw…

Check out this wacked table, which opens sideways and then closes around someone, so that only their head and hands are perched above it when closed. I guess it’s called a pillory table. Apparently pillory has a history. If you haven’t clicked the link yet, it is the device a Guiotine holds you in before chopping off your head.

I talked about Pinchbeck before. Here’s an interview at new world disorder, as well as commentary here and here.
Thanks D.

Check out the BBC’s website for Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. You can hear it via live streaming audio. This is the radio show, btw, not related to the new movie, as far as I know.

Take the Christian Science Monitor test and find out. I thought I would come out centrist, or mixed, but somehow that labeled me a damn LIBERAL!

There’s an interesting research project at the University of Michigan to find out why + how we understand humor. To all those Cybernetic Totalists out there, does a computer or robot have to understand humor to be judged intelligent? Probably not, most of those CS researchers don’t.

It never for a moment makes sense to me why the government insists on going after willful adults, and their private proclivities. With the scandals over the FDA, you’d think we would all be concluding these decisions are better left in the hands of the individual. D M Tea drinkers told by highest court to end their religious practices. A bit of detail, DMT is a fast acting psychoactive substance drank as Ayahuasca in South American tribes.

Besides Ray Kurzweil the Transhumanists have a lot to say about the coming singularity. I could drown in this stuff, it’s so interesting…
Thanks Duncan.

Ray Kurzweil seems to be a name I’ve heard, but somehow missed until now. He’s got an article on the coming technological singularity. He argues machine intelligence will surpass ours, as do the cybernetic totalists. I prefer the various 2012 conspiracies which also claim a coming shift in human history.
All of this though, plays right into Goswami’s hands.

My friend Gary will appreciate this story. Some folks try the humane track, and try to help wild cats find owners. Wisconsin has another plan. Jim-bob, you got a shotgun in the back, I think I see me one a ‘em wild little kitty cats there, let’s get ‘em!
At least one advocacy group has another message.

Other cities have computerized train line, but New York’s old subway system has made it more difficult. We finally have one with the L train to Brooklyn. So that’s what all that construction has been about. Ok, well everyone better keep your feet out of the doorways!

Or maybe least accountable to laws, and say cyber crackdowns… As you know if you’re a regular reader of NDS that we were hacked by russians, so maybe it’s true, Russians are the best hackers…

Sometimes there is so much good art, we are just innundated by it, and we don’t recognize it’s goodness. I was just scanning Pitchfork the music site, and chanced upon the site designers site someoddpilot. So much goodness I don’t know what to say except head on over and check it out.

With Rushkof, Sirius, and Wilson involved, it’s sure to be good. So much material. Maybe Logic Quarterly (Wintersolstice 04 issue), and here’s the current issue.
